Food sharing with your neighbours

I truly believe there is no boundary in a map of the food world. Food is an essence of living and everybody have to have some nutritious intake no matter how much different they can be. It is a base of our daily life and as they say, “you are what you eat”, you must put it as a priority in your life. If everyone in the world started sharing food with neighbours, I seriously believe it is the beginning of the world peace. You have a neighbour who you say hi/bye but never have proper lengthy conversations. Do you know where they are from? If that’s yes, do you know what they eat daily? Do you know how yummy their food could be!?!?!?!? Well, you can’t start going around knocking on their doors saying “can I tell me what you ate for dinner?” or “can I be invited to your dinner tonight!?”. Even with your biggest simile on your face with a bunch of flowers, you will probably don’t get the same smile back. Well, knowing that all, I’m not going to start talking about food with all my neighbours just yet. But with some of my close neighbour friends, I’ve started sharing some of my food, hoping they will eat… fingers crossed. Is it too much to ask? The worst thing which could happen would be they don’t like the food AT ALL. Well, that’s ok as they are my friends, they will hopefully tell me the honest opinions.

I live in Ruislip, which is in north-west London and being inside M25, many of the neighbours are from outside the UK. Just thinking about the variety of food and culture there would be just on my street, it makes my mouth water. I am hungry now. Yes, you can share food but you could possibly still hate each other but it wouldn’t be the beginning of the war… would it? If Kim and Donald sat down at the same dinner table and have a nice meal together with a glass of wine? Oh, no.. it could be the beginning or end of it all… ok, there is always a limit to your guest list but there is no limit to your dream.

This year, I’m hoping to make a map of the food world and start learning about food all around the world. And, I will do my best to share my food with my neighbours, just like how it used to be back in old days. Then one day, I might be able to go borrow salt from my neighbours. And one day, the side of society with divisions and discriminations will not develop as fast as it could.
