Cooking Japanese Curry with Kids
OK, it’s time for my kids to get busy in the kitchen! It is the perfect time as we have more time to spend at home
during the summer holiday. So, to begin with, we started off with kid’s favorite dish, the Japanese curry. They have helped me in the kitchen before but the idea now is for them to independently cook by themselves. So let’s see how it went.
They were so enthusiastic and began washing vegetables. Their knife
handling skill isn’t so sharp but they managed chopping potatoes, carrots and onions with some tears and without chopping any fingers. I’ve already cut the meat, pork this time, in advance so less to do during the lesson. Leo was in charge on the hob, while Lilia brought all the ingredients to him one by one. Good teamwork it was, I must say.
While waiting for the curry to be ready, they’ve learnt how to wash Japanese rice and cook in the rice cooker. As usually, we forgot to take the final photo but we’ll make some more soon and update the post. Until then, please take our words and believe that the end product was great with a bit of Fukujin-zuke, the daikon red pickles and salad on the side. It was so yummy, it even tasted better than when I make it by myself.
