Our Breakfast Revolution

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day but the fact is the most difficult one to make it as a priority. My kids always preferred Japanese breakfast which is fine. I couldn’t complain much as it is a healthy balanced breakfast but the amount of time it takes to prepare!? When there is less time on the breakfast table, they might eat alternatives but they never give me those easy cereal or porridge options. They just refuse to eat. Things needed to be changed as breakfast menu was becoming too boring and I simply needed less hustle in the morning.

With a discussion about breakfast menu with, Leo has agreed that when there is no enough time, he can have cereals. But he would not eat enough amount for breakfast and what’s worse japanese breakfastabout it is that Lilia does not touch them… she insisted she like to have rice in the morning.. I don’t blame her as that was how I was brought up and I couldn’t think of other alternatives too. So, cereal wasn’t the right solution after all and I really appreciate how my family was having full Japanese breakfast every morning back in Japan those days.

I was thinking… and came up with this doubt.. maybe it’s because I preferred Japanese breakfast? It’s because I didn’t give them so much options since they’re babies? Sometimes it’s good to break an ice and explore a new world and it was the time for our breakfast revolution! So, started giving them toast, eggs and baked beans (I still can not get used to this interesting English invention.. ) and they seem to be ok with it so far. Porridge.. they don’t like the texture so much so unfortunately it’s not going to be on the regular list but I will still try giving them sometime. Natto and rice is their first choice but at least they will eat decent amount of breakfast even their favorite is not on the table.

Please share your ideas of healthy and quick breakfast or any stories about your breakfast battles?

**Oh by the way, the egg behind the soup is a spanish omelette, which is made by my friend and her sister. I must upload the recipe soon but only once I have mastered it!
